Provides routine (journey-level) vocational nursing work in HCS and TxHmL waiver programs. Work involves providing for the care, treatment, and general welfare of patients. May train others. Works under moderate Experience in nursing work. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent or from an approved vocational or practical nursing education program. Must be licensed as a licensed vocational nurse by the State of Texas or in another state that recognizes reciprocity through.the Nurse Licensure Compact. Must have a valid Texas Drivers License with a good driving record.
At least 6 months experience working with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities in an ICF/ID and/or a waiver program. Basic computer knowledge. Knowledge of state and federal regulatory standards. Knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures; of healthcare laws and regulations; of medical diagnoses and procedure; of accepted medical treatment programs; and of community health and nursing care principles, practices, and procedures.
Provides technical nursing care and basic nursing treatment to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Work includes providing health care, quarterly home visits, in services and training to individuals served and staff delegated by the RN and identified on the comprehensive nursing assessment completed by the RN. LVN is required to comply with all Department of Aging and Disabilities Services (HHSC) Home and Community Services (HCS), Texas Home Living (TxHmL), Texas Board of Nursing, and Joint Commission applicable standards. Will serve individuals within the guidelines of the Behavioral Health Center of Nueces County vision, mission, and value statement; and the principles of HCS and TxHmL waiver programs. Generally works an M-F schedule from 8-5; however, must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends if the need is determined by the consumer.
